clubfoot and milestone delay due to fits

hi friends,
i am treating a child who was born with severe club foot.the child also has several other serious issues.the child is 3 years old and soon after birth when she was 8 months she got fits and that too was severe to the extent of 50 times per day,because of which she lost all her development,till recently she used to get jerks three times per day and past two weeks her fits has stopped.she has partial head control,poor cognition, no trunk control,poor muscle tone and in all areas she has to be developed.i would like to know if i could make her stand inspite of her clubfoot with the help of knee gaitters and full body support.she cries for pain in foot while standing.also help me and advise me in her therapy programme.

You may start the conduction education programme for treating his developmental delay. That is a good approach to follow.

Thank you for your reply. Can you please tell me if i could make her stand on her feet inspite of her club feet? or should weight bearing be avoided till she undergoes surgery for it? Will weight bearing on club feet increase her foot condition. Is it ok to take a mould of her feet and prepare shoes for her for weight bearing alone until she undergoes surgery.

It depends upon the nature of deformity. It there are no marked structural changes and condition is favourable to respond to stretching, ROM exercises, strengthening exercises and splinting, the you may chose shoes or splints for foot correction along with other measures as I have mentioned. If structural changes are marked, you have an option to let the child for having surgery for feet correction.

HI FRIENDS,I had sent a letter to the childs orthopaedic surgeon and he had advised for surgery immediately as her seizures have stopped a few days back and asked not to give weight bearing exercises for her feet.
