NZ reg physio working in WA??
Hello
I'm a UK trained physio who has just got my NZ registration. I am thinking about doing a masters in western Australia. I have looked at the WA physio board website but can get the answer. My question is, can i get WA registration by becoming registered in another state in OZ then applying for mutual recognition with the WA board?
cheers
Re: NZ reg physio working in WA??
Not sure if I can help with this one, but I heard that WA did not sign the Trans Tasmanian Deal which allows automatic registration from NZ Physios.
On another point, can you let me know how difficult it was to register for NZ Physio council? I am trying to do this to access entrance to Oz as it seems doing it through Oz physio council leads to approx. 60% failure rate. Apparently easier and cheaper through NZ. It looks like a lot of paperwork, but i would be interested to see how you went.

Pete
Re: NZ reg physio working in WA??
hi
the NZ registration is difficult, but if you put the work in and there is a bit of organisation like getting your university stuff etc. Took me about 3-4 months to do the papre work, got it first time, but i did have a 4 yr degree and work experience which helped a lot.
Cheers

Re: NZ reg physio working in WA??
Thanks Paul
I have a 4 year Bachelor degree from South Africa, and I have been working for 15 years mostly in private practice, so I am far removed from the Uni exams etc, and obviously have not had much contact with Cardiovascular or Neuro Physio, mainly musculoskeletal, so I am wondering if I could still meet some of the competencies necessary. There is some good info on this site so will have to grind it out and get all the paperwork done. Cheaper and easier than doing the Oz route.
Cheers

Yes, once you are registered in another state in Australia you can transfer that to WA. I am English trained working in WA and this was easy enough to do.

Hey everyone,
If you did perhaps get registered in NZ, are they any requirements to go there and work, or can you automatically transfer over to an aus state? The NZ route seems good and less expensive, but I want to make sure there are not any catches!
Thanks!
