Videoclips of stroke/parkinson/MD patients online?
I am preparing for neuro exams and have had little experience with stroke/MS/parkinson patients and I wondered if anyone knew of any free online resource that shows these patients in terms of postural control, gait and coordination etc.
Thanks for any info

dear H,
¿why not go the the first nursing home or geriatric hospital you can find and ask if you can follow their physitherapist around for a day?. I think you would learn a lot more than from some clip.... which I do not know about. Would suggest you go to neurological sites on google about the disorders named above, you might find some clips there.
success with your exams.

Dear Ester
The reason I asked for online clips is that there are a number of us that are working through problem lists for patients and since time is an issue online would be better.
I intend later to visit a local unit but that is not possible at the minute due to already being on physio placement.
Thanks for the suggestion

Re: Videoclips of stroke/parkinson/MD patients online?
Hi halacey,
Have you tried looking on you tube? There are a few videos which may be beneficial (eg Gait patterns, UL dysfunction etc)
When I was a student like yourself we also had access to patient videos via the technicians office, so it might be worth you asking around at your institution.
Hope this helps, I can remember what its like being a novice and in your situation. You really have to observe these patients within a clinical setting to gain an appreciation, however I am sure you will gain this experience within the near future.
Good Luck!
