ionrophoresis with cortisone treatment

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question and I'm hoping that someone can refer me to some research which has been done on the benefits of using iontophoresis with cortisone treatment for tendinopathies.

I have an unstable shoulder and I normally feel the pain at the head of the long biceps tendon. It has been suggested a number of times that I should consider getting a cortisone shot, however I have always been against the benefit of it as the long term effects can include degradation of the tendon. But now that the injury is almost 18 months old and i still on occasions get an inflammed biceps T, and realised that I really should have progressed a lot further with my physio rehab until I was told that my technique was not very good and should have been at a much higher level than what it was. so to push through this next phase I am considering a cortisone injection or iontophoresis with cortisone treatments.

I have had iontophoresis done with anti-imflammatories which my physio in the US gave me and it worked really well. However I understand that physio's are not able to give this here in australia.

I guess my question is, does anyone know of any studies which look at the benefits of using iontophoresis with cortisone to treat inflammation of tendons which they can refer me to.
