Hi, the agencies seem to be offering £25 per hour. I have accepted a post starting 15/4.
hi. your question depends on whether you're working for a UK agency with the MOD on on the Germany market. there seems to be lots of MOD work at present and they pay well with lots of perks from the MOD as well (Naafi shopping, cheap or rent free accommodation, very cheap fuel etc). the German market is realy bad. I quallified in germany and worked there for 4 years after quallifying and never found a Physio who earned more than 2000 euros gross a month. theres also not that many decent jobs going as the market was swammped with physios in 2003/2004 - it seems that eveyone who was unimployed was offered a possition as a physio, and therefor there are also a lot of not very good people out there who give the profession a bad name. don't get me wrong, there are some absolute gurus out there, but theyre hard to find and tend to be over-worked. I'd recogmend an MOD post or look to a few other european countries, like Austria or Swizerland - there also lot seems to be a demand for good Physio's in the scandanavian countries. whatever you choose. good luck.

If you want to work in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, unless you get a job in an US Airbase, you actually do have to speak German fluently ! Same, of course, for the other countries, e.d. need to be fluent in Dutch for the Netherlands, fluent in Spanish in Spain, etc.

I have recently returned from Germany working for the Army. The job was great and conditions of service were also very good. HOWEVER you must ensure that you sign up to a good agency. I had the unfortunate experience of working for Military Medical Personell ( MMP). I found the experience with the agency very frustrating! I may of been unlucky in that I am self employed and found that MMP could not pay me direct and had little control over a third party whom paid me. I have since changed agencies and find it much better. Please try to get all details from the agency in writing prior to accepting any post in Germany.
I'm not sure about the pay rates in Germany but I have another great suggestion for you - Here are some great online shopping comparisons for you.
On top of that I agree Fyzzio - you should be fluent in German otherwise it will be too hard for you in Germany!
It would also be of benefit to know how the 401ks in Germany are structured compared to the ones in the US. Does anyone know this?
Are there any physio jobs in Berlin that don't require that you to have fluent German????

I think it is safe to presume that you need to be able to speak the language of the patients you would like to treat.....always....

the pay rates depends on the company and and your level of expertise.
so there are no specific pay rates in a certain country, its just depends on the company or your level of expertise.
To work in Germany I see that one of the things that you need to have is "knowledge about the German healthcare system including billing procedures". Anybody know how you could info on this and more importantly how to prove that you have such knowledge. Is it with a special certificate or what?????

if you live in Germany, the pay is quite good, and what's more, your rent would be quite low, for example if you had a single apartment in Berlin.
The pay rates seem to be good, however... Does anyone knows if the jobs situation is good for physios at the moment? I have been reading a few forums and it seems that some areas are overfloded with physiotherapists looking for a job.
I have been thinking about moving to Germany, but I would like to know if it realistic to find a job there before I start the proccess.

Hi again. Slightly off topic and I posted this on another thread also, so if you already read it then I apologise. I've learned German since my last post and work there full time. Absolutely nothing to do with British military or otherwise. I work in a normal practice. Here's my problem...................
I got my degree in the UK and now I find myself in Germany and I keep hearing about "manuelle therapie", how superior manual therapists are and how if you want to further your career you need to do mauelle therapie. We did manual therapy as part of our degree and in the UK no official distinction is made between physios who are manual therapists or not.
Does anyone know how officially you become one. Is it as easy as doing a weekend course or must one do a longer, more expensive, more complicated course to gain official recognition?

As far as I am aware you must do this Manuelle Therapie course that can last two years (I think). It is part time though so weekends and sometimes during the week ( this is what my work colleagues tell me). It costs a bit too; I think 2 or 3 thousand euro.
It is certainly different from the UK, Ireland, Oz and NZ but that is unfortunately the way they do it in Germany.
