Hip/groin trouble
before initial injury I ran (1-2 times per week) and played five-a-side football twice a week.
About 6 months back I had a problem with my right groin. I rested it completely for three months then attended physio for 6 weeks and gained useful information and exercises to do. About a 6 weeks ago the groin seemed strong enough to begin playing again.
All was fine (no pain/stiffness at all) until last week when I began to experience a pain in my right hip area. (sore to walk for up to 4 days after playing, very stiff in the morning etc) Is this related to my previous groin problem?
Any advice on how to get back to full fitness most appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Hip/groin trouble
The issue with returning to match fitness is that usually individuals believe that the lack of pain is associated with full function. This is wrong, as pain is not necessarily an indicator of optimum function,
If this injury has recently recurred, you may want to consider ultrasound to enhance fibre alignment and healing,
Additionally, you want a progressive physiotherapy programme that assesses dynamic functional activities before you get back to match fitness. Without that you will likely re injure, and what will happen is chronic tissue changes that lead to long term delay of recovery.
