Hello,
I am a uk based physio with 1 years post grad. experience. I am interested in doing some volunteer work in Africa in approx. 1 year.
Can anyone direct me to a charity or agency. Ideally I would like to go for 3 months and work with another physio. I am aware of VSO and am currently looking in to that option ( but they do say they require 5 years experience).

I am also looking into volunteer work in Africa for 3-4months. I have contacted VSO and they require a committment of 1-2years. I was booked onto a trip with Gap Sports, but had to cancel as I was offered a job. A few of my friends went out there with them and loved it. However, it is expensive and I am desperately looking for a orgnaisation where I can offer my services, but not pay a huge amount.
Projects abroad offer a similar trip, but they cannot say how much hands on work you'll do until you're out there and have built a rapport with your supervisor. Handicap International only accept people with at least 3yrs experience and need a committment of at least 6-12 months. Other than these, I have not found very much.
I would ideally like to go out with a group of people to share the experience with and to a place where my skills will really benefit others. If you come across anything it would be great to hear about it. I will continue my search and keep you posted.
