Physiotherapy and diverticulitis

Hi All
I am currently treating a 75yr old male who had an exacerbation of rotator cuff symptoms. Part of his treatment was mobilising his upper and mid thoracic spine with gr3 maitland mobs and trigger-point release of rhomboids, levator scap etc. Two days after his treatment he started to bleed rectally ? due to severe diverticulitis. His doctors have been unable to establish the source of the bleeding. He was wondering if there could be any link between my treatment and the bleed as the same had happened a few years before after a deep massage on his back by a massage therapist. No manipulation was done.
I can not see a link between the two but was wondering if anybody had any ideas on this or had any similar experiences.
