or, can anyone has cervical spondolysis at the age of 18 ?
Re: cervical spondylosis at the age of 18 ?
hi dear,
well answering your question - can anyone hav C5-C6 fusion from birth, the answer is "YES".
technically it is called congenital synostosis or block vertebra and for your information the location in order of frequency is
1) cervical spine: C2-3, C5-6
2) lumbar spine: L4-5
3) thoracic spine: any section.
regarding cervical spondylosis, in other words it is called 'wear and tear' of the vertebrae and discs of the neck, hence it is most often seen only in older people.

thomas
Re: cervical spondylosis at the age of 18 ?
so this fusion of mine which is frm birth, harmful to me ?
do i need to cure it ?
my doc told me, if its frm birth its not harmful.
is he correct ?
Re: cervical spondylosis at the age of 18 ?
hi dear,
well, what the doctor states is generally "true", but sometimes the deformity can manifest secondary signs & symptoms.
regarding your headaches, I will not be able to commend. please follow up with your doctor.
cheers,
thomas
Re: cervical spondylosis at the age of 18 ?
Hi,
WIth your headaches, it is possible that the C5/6 fusion puts more pressure on the other levels in your neck. Therefore, the upper neck joints might be overworking due to many factors such as posture, activities, sports etc.
Headaches that come from the neck often come from the joints OC1, C1/2 and C2/3. They can give many and varied sympotms.
It is likely that the C5/6 is not really the cause of your problems but other issues not seen on XRays or CT etc.
See a good physio and things should be taken care of.
