Disability sports and classification
Hello. I am a physiotherapist in South Africa and I'm so interested in disabled sports and classification. But we have no courses and they are so far behind. I have been trying to get involved for over 2 years now but they are rather incompetent. It's my passion and I want to get involved, even if it means travelling. I'm dedicated and would really appreciate some guidance from my fellow colleagues out there.
Thank you
Re: Disability sports and classification
That's really great that you are so enthusiastic towards disability sports and classification:
I came across an article on web stating six different impairment groups stated in International Paralympic Committee, namely:
- Amputees
- Athletes with cerebral palsy
- Blind or visually impaired athletes
- Spinal cord injured athletes
- Athletes with an intellectual/learning disability
- Other athletes (les autres) with a physical impairment, who do not fit into any of the above five groups
