    Disability sports and classification

Hello. I am a physiotherapist in South Africa and I'm so interested in disabled sports and classification. But we have no courses and they are so far behind. I have been trying to get involved for over 2 years now but they are rather incompetent. It's my passion and I want to get involved, even if it means travelling. I'm dedicated and would really appreciate some guidance from my fellow colleagues out there.

    Thank you

That's really great that you are so enthusiastic towards disability sports and classification:
I came across an article on web stating six different impairment groups stated in International Paralympic Committee, namely:

    • Amputees
    • Athletes with cerebral palsy
    • Blind or visually impaired athletes
    • Spinal cord injured athletes
    • Athletes with an intellectual/learning disability
    • Other athletes (les autres) with a physical impairment, who do not fit into any of the above five groups
