hiya, just wondered for any inservice trainings what your senior wrote on it to verify it? thanks
I am finishing my portfolio but still have some questions:
1. I have a copy of syllabus stamped by the university on each page. Does the university have to send a copy DIRECTLY to the NZ board instead?
2. I have an original copy of the IELTS result. Do I have to request a copy to be sent DIRECTLY from the IELTS centre to the board?
3. I kept some reflective statements for some in-service trainings I had in the past, do I have to certify them?
4. I took some courses in the past and according to the applicaton package, it will be good to send the course outline as well. Apart from certifying the certificates, do I have to certify the course outline?
As each page costs and it's ridiculously expensive here, I hope I can only notify those documents that I have to. BTW, as I have left my old jobs for a while, I won't be able to get my boss to certify the documents for me.
Hope somebody can give me advice.
Thanks in advance.
sound life you got most of it covered, post it all off they will post you back a letter saying they would like further clarification or thye can't except certain thing, this happened to me but it wasn't a problem, they are very helpful when you have posted it in
good luck
Hi spud, wow you're a busy man since you got your registration. Thanks for helping out us.
Just wanted to ask you few questions I seem to be stuck with:
1. about letters supporting your experience/competencies - I got my peers, seniors to write letters confirming my experience and competency. On the board's website there is a form 'validation of work history' that has to be fiiled in by referee and posted straight to NZ - does it include only my employers/managers or did you use it to prove any other activities/competencies? did you use the form at all?
2. did you reference few different competencies with the same paper/letter e.g. if one senior writes about your communication skills, time management, research and so on in one letter I presume I can use it to prove more then one competency?
3. how did you start writing the portfolio. did you use table format? would you be so kind to give an example of one of the sub competencies how you wrote it?
thanks for your effort
W.
Hi spud,
when writing your portfolio how much evidence did you use to support one sub competency? for examlpe: comp 1.1.2 about human structure - did you write that it was covered in your uni or did you also say about courses and in-services you attended (e.g. course on ankle rehab that started with revising anatomy and function. anything else?
I understand that the more the better but how much is sufficient?
thanks
Hi
1. yes i used it and i used it for various rotations eg neuro, ortho etc
2. yes I numbered the letter and kept ref to letter 1
3. I made a front page with my ref numbered and kept referring to this. for example 1. letter from neuro rotation 2. CV 3. inservice training on cervical spine. I used this then in my portfolio to reference, eg blah blah (pg 1 : number 3). I have already given as example on how i wrote it, above.
I have questions about declaration. If the notary public can only provide a standard statement of '... a true copy of the original document' instead of the required '.... true copy of the original document sighted'. Will that be OK? As according to the notary public I consulted, they only need to see the photocopies and even I bring both the originals and the photocopies, they will still give me the same statement i.e. without the word 'sighted'.
Will the NZ board accept it? Anyone has the documents declared without the exact wordings but were still accepted by the board.
I am getting frustrated as the NZ board has revised the competencies and the old one will only be used if the application is received by them by 1 Sept 2009. And I don't think I will have all the stuff ready by that time. The new competencies seem more specific 'items' on physiotherapy management. As my university no longer keeps my student placement reports and at that time, the students were not allowed to possess any of those copies, I don't have much documents to give evidence on those specific, precise items.
Thanks in advance.
:(
Hi Pico
Sorry can be any help with your question. But so glad you mentioned the change of competencies I had even realised! It is very annoying as I have been doing mine for the past 4 months. I am hoping to get them finished soon. Hope it is in on time or I will be very pissed off!!!!
Erine, I'm the same. only noticed the new competencies yesterday!!!
Hi all, YES it is very frustrating that the NZ board have just revised the competencies. i hope that you all have managed to get you reg in ontime....
unfortunately i have just missed the deadline as my application was returned to me and i now have to apply under the new competencies.
If anyone can give some help or advice with the new competencies it would be much appreciated
many thanks
Regarding our evidence, when we get letters from our peers & seniors, can they send it printed in plain papers or is it better that they show a letterhead of any hospital that they are working.....i mean printed on a letterhead of some organisation...or no ? coz not everyone will be working always.....
Here is the clause for all Indian PTs applyn for the registration ...if you have started the registration process and you are not aware that we all need to show compulsorily that we have also done a formal course from Australia/NZ/canada/uk after our bachelors or masters from india...here is the link to that...all our indian frenz do read this......

hi i am a physiotherapy student in india.is it possible that i complete my 6month internship/clinical placement in NZ or austrlia?
Hi Sandhu
I think it is unlikely you would get a 6 month placement in Australia or NZ for a number of reasons:
- One of the educational institutions here would have to supervise your placement on behalf of your training institution.
- With such a shortage of placements for our own educational institutions, no educational body would want to tie up a placement for 6 months to a foreign student
- The placement would also have to be approved by the appropriate board for the state in Australia or for the country in NZ. My guess is that when evaluating the standard of education of your institution there may be problems for you.
In contrast if you wanted to have a short experience such as for 6 weeks this may be more favourably looked upon. However the placement would still have to be approved by the registration board involved in the state/country
Hi all,
If you are coming to this thread looking for advice on how to get registration for New Zealand, i just wanted to post a quick word of warning. Since I started giving advice I have been to New Zealand, spent almost two years there and have now come back to the UK. The job situation has changed A LOT during this period. Don't get me wrong, it is a great place and I loved my time there but by the end of it it was a bit of a struggle to make ends meet. If you have done your research you will know about the whole change in the ACC situation, patient numbers in the private sector have fallen through the floor and for the majority of physios being paid per patient this has been very difficult. My main point is that there may be jobs there but the patient numbers may not support the type of lifestyle that you might be expecting (especially if you up sticks and move to the other side of the world), so be very careful.
Good luck to you all!
Hi,
Just a quick message to say I absolutely agree with Spud!!! The job situation here is awful, I am still living in New Zealand at present but my fiancee and I have now made the decision to leave after about 18 months :( I am currently managing to scrape together about 25-30 hours per week and this includes admin and paperwork which accounts for about 5-8 hours per week!!!
If anyone is coming to NZ to work primarily as a physio I would certainly reconsider - Australia may be a better option as i hera the job market there is much better.
Good luck!!
Hey guys
Quick question can you dry needle patients in NZ without an official acupuncture qualification (just dry needling qualification). I'm thinking about doing an acupuncture course and not sure which one to do.
Cheers
Hi,
have a look here:
