Hi spud, wow you're a busy man since you got your registration. Thanks for helping out us.
Just wanted to ask you few questions I seem to be stuck with:
1. about letters supporting your experience/competencies - I got my peers, seniors to write letters confirming my experience and competency. On the board's website there is a form 'validation of work history' that has to be fiiled in by referee and posted straight to NZ - does it include only my employers/managers or did you use it to prove any other activities/competencies? did you use the form at all?
2. did you reference few different competencies with the same paper/letter e.g. if one senior writes about your communication skills, time management, research and so on in one letter I presume I can use it to prove more then one competency?
3. how did you start writing the portfolio. did you use table format? would you be so kind to give an example of one of the sub competencies how you wrote it?
thanks for your effort
W.
Hi
1. yes i used it and i used it for various rotations eg neuro, ortho etc
2. yes I numbered the letter and kept ref to letter 1
3. I made a front page with my ref numbered and kept referring to this. for example 1. letter from neuro rotation 2. CV 3. inservice training on cervical spine. I used this then in my portfolio to reference, eg blah blah (pg 1 : number 3). I have already given as example on how i wrote it, above.
I have questions about declaration. If the notary public can only provide a standard statement of '... a true copy of the original document' instead of the required '.... true copy of the original document sighted'. Will that be OK? As according to the notary public I consulted, they only need to see the photocopies and even I bring both the originals and the photocopies, they will still give me the same statement i.e. without the word 'sighted'.
Will the NZ board accept it? Anyone has the documents declared without the exact wordings but were still accepted by the board.
I am getting frustrated as the NZ board has revised the competencies and the old one will only be used if the application is received by them by 1 Sept 2009. And I don't think I will have all the stuff ready by that time. The new competencies seem more specific 'items' on physiotherapy management. As my university no longer keeps my student placement reports and at that time, the students were not allowed to possess any of those copies, I don't have much documents to give evidence on those specific, precise items.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Pico
Sorry can be any help with your question. But so glad you mentioned the change of competencies I had even realised! It is very annoying as I have been doing mine for the past 4 months. I am hoping to get them finished soon. Hope it is in on time or I will be very pissed off!!!!
Erine, I'm the same. only noticed the new competencies yesterday!!!
Hi spud,
when writing your portfolio how much evidence did you use to support one sub competency? for examlpe: comp 1.1.2 about human structure - did you write that it was covered in your uni or did you also say about courses and in-services you attended (e.g. course on ankle rehab that started with revising anatomy and function. anything else?
I understand that the more the better but how much is sufficient?
thanks
