hi,,,, :rollin
im respiratory therapist,, graduated about a year ago and have been working in this job for 4 months only,,,
i have never used any other solution besides the normal saline 0.9% in my one-year internship,,,,
we used it even with ventilator humidifiers,,
an issue was raised about it in the last past days here in the new hospital,, and that we should be using distilled water instead!!! :eek
i tried searching the net for an answer but i couldnt find a single site that mentions it!
as i know, the 0.9% is used to trigger a cough reflex while sxning, but it is also used with nebulization,,,,
does it irritate the airways when used with vents humidifiers????
and if it does then why do we use it with nebs??
and what is the best solution to be used with vents humidifiers???
does it have to be a hypo/hyper/isotonic solution??? 8o
