    indian physio need council

    Hi
Let me introduce myself, I am Vijay Sharma, and have just completed my B.P.T final year.
Being physiotherapists we all know the status of Physiotherapy in India. Today, despite of our extensive knowledge of subjects ,we are prevented from attaining the status we deserve among the medical professionals.
Who can be held responsible for this?
Government? For its policies and depriving us of our council?
Most of will answer yes. Actually its WE-the upcoming Physiotherapists who haven’t taken any initiative till date in this direction. Just blaming others and waiting for the initiating steps to follow can never provide us with a solution.
IT’S OUR RIGHT TO HAVE A COUNCIL.
Even nurses have a council, then why do we lack?
Our country needs us in same way as it needs any MBBS or MD. Government needs to recognize it.
I accept that physiotherapy evolved as diploma courses in India and may be at that time Physiotherapy Association was sufficient as an administrative body. But status of Physiotherapy has improved a lot since the bachelors and masters degree programs have been introduced in India in this field.
So,it’s right time to ask for council so that WE-the upcoming Physiotherapists and our juniors can enjoy the status of respectable medical professionals.
Another major drawback that we are facing is the lack of job in government institutions and moreover the salary scales in government jobs need to be revised as these are still according to DPT qualifications.
Also, our profession is considered as referred system of practice in India owing to lack of legal umbrella that is the PHYSIOTHERAPY COUNCIL OF INDIA.
So, its high times that we all should acknowledge the need for physiotherapy council and put in our best efforts in the way towards enlightenment in same context.
All those awakened are invited to join the group, so that we all can collectively make fruitful efforts in the process of physiotherapy council.
    health.groups.yahoo.com/g...anphysioz/
Kindly appreciate the initiative and forward this to all physiotherapists so that we can make it a national issue.
    THANKS

    indian fundament towards physiotherapy

its glad to see somebody to come forward on this issue,

i am bhavan from india and in last year of bpt and i think people over here is quite understanding the need and they are giving the reputation its as ant mbbs or other health service people.

but i am unhappy on the issue that in india people are not in touch of manipulation that much as the other abroad people have because each and every college in india having the basic concept about the use of electrothepay but not the manipulation.

second thing in india physiotherapist is not community advance it as in abroad country adn the world organization is also not willing to do som uch worl over here . example is that who's most cbr people are from india but in india no much devlopement.

Support and appeal for some organisational skills to make this fruitful to us

I am still in final year and boy,be sure we can gather hell lot of people for rallies and stuff. We as a student not sure what is suppose to be done on organisational skills but thats what situation is demanding. We need to work along with IAP and we need hell-bent support from it. It seems this will be long process but we need to take a step towards it. What happened about taking this issue to World confederation of physiotherapist which physiodude advised? Please inform me what we as students can do,we will discuss this and if any idea sparks up,we'll lend it here right a way. There will be more members to this group, thats all i will do it for now.

    Hello Sharma,

Hope the numerous views would have given you the start to formulate an action plan. If not please begin, at least a rough sketch of how you intend to move forward & post in the forum. You can be assured of our support to refine the proposal & set you on track.

From your comments, I infer that your priority is to organize a mass rally in all states of India & thereby pressurize the government to take a glance at our profession. Well that's fair enough, but you need to represent the physio community with a neat set of demands & policy amendments. Get working on them too & of course don't forget your frequent reminders to the forum to join the bandwagon. Its been missing lately

    Best of luck.

    Re: indian physio need council

    Hi there
I am not an Indian physio but I find your enthusiasm and initiative great.
I just wondered if it would help you to find some help from other international associations (for example health professional council in England? or Chartered Society of Physiotherapists). The Indian physios here in the uk might be able to get in contact with the HPC or CSP and get some support, some advice from them. Plus it might be of advantage if you can show your Indian politicians that you have strong international partnerships and that your aim is to reach international standards. I would have have thought that India is keen to compete internationally- so hit the politicians with their pride and point out that Indian Physios otherwise will lack of quality in international comparism.
    just a thought
    good luck...
    Annette

Cool Re: indian physio need council

arkesh, none of them seem to have even attended a single annual conference let alone the GB meeting. Empty vessels make the most sound. Some of these who have been shouting hoarse will not even make it here, in their country of origin and to even think of trying their mite on the international arena !!! They just are not on level ground. Well I guess everyone has black sheeps in the family. I guess these are India's.

    Re: indian physio need council

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
i am sure all the physiotherapists in india will be with along side each other, wen the question of forming a council is actually and repeatedly put up !!!!!!! and that would mean major initiatives from the senior members of the association to the IMC or the govt.
i kno tht its been tried once but i m sorry to say tht i m not aware of the consequence or if there was any????????????????????????
i wonder if all the physios in india are part of the association???? cz sorry to say there are many who practice without the need to be a member of their community i.e the IAP.
