    TMJ Dysfunction

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
Hi, I'm an undergrad physio student, and recently a friend has come to me for advice. She has a long history of grinding her teeth in her sleep, which has caused gradually increase jaw pain for her. Recently she woke up one morning with unbearable jaw pain, went to her GP, and was told her jaw had subluxed. She is taking valium to control the muscle spasm around her face, and was referred to physiotherapy for massage, and "despasming".

I have no experience with an facial or temperomandibular dysfunction, and would greatly appreciate any input.
Alternatively, does anybody know of any physios that would specialise in this in the greater Dublin area??

    Thanks

    Re: TMJ Dysfunction

    Hello,
My name is Vanessa and I'm specialized in TMJ disorders. It's not that simple and easy to treat TMJ disorders. You can have some information at this book: Orofacial Pain - Guidelines for Assessment, Diagnosis, and Management - Jeffrey P. Okeson. Dr. Okeson is the best on this field, and his books were really great references.
You can send me more informations about your patient at my e-mail: [email protected] and I will be more than happy to help u.
    Best Regards
    Vanessa
