    Re: Rigidity & Tremmors

He has all suggestive signs of Parkinsons except tremmors. It has an idiopathic origin. I am able to solve most of his problems except episodes of stiffness and tremmors. I have talked to his Neurologist as well but the diagnosis is hazy according to him.

    Re: Rigidity & Tremors

My pt has improved considrably over the period of time but i am not able to help him much for his tremmors. I was not giving any stimulation to him , prior also. Can you please give me any logics or litreature behind your idea of refraining spastic pt's from stimulation.

    Lightbulb Re: Rigidity & Tremors

    Dear friends
In my 10 years in this field I have never come accross ultrasonic therapy given for tremors. Hope whoverever has given this statement has got some rationale for it. An I would be delighted to get an explanation.

Though it is true that it is not possible to cure voluntary tremors by Physical therapy. It is possible to overcome the hindrance caused by these tremors during voluntary motion. Cognitive movement execution techniques have found to reduce the effect of tremors on voluntary movement.

    Re: Rigidity & Tremors

Thanks for the valuable suggestions. I know how to use U.S under water but am doubtful about its application in tremmors. Are you practcing it ? From where did you get this information? Plz let me know so that i can start working soon. Also tell me why you are against applying electrical stimulation to spastic patients? Thanks a lot.

    Re: Rigidity & Tremors

    HI fred,
well if the pt has tremmor due some lession in the Brain then you can give him U.S .Its rare .but once i had for 2 days ,there wer obviously no ,tremomors after treat ment. well mostly we start the EMS, for those pt who have lack of power or flaccidity due to some injurries or other reasons ,well EMS may increase there spasticity.........(i never had experiance to US with parkinson,s)

    bye

    Re: Rigidity & Tremors

Can you calrify whether it is rigidity or spasticity? For rigidity, Is the increase in tone is cogs wheel type or lead pipe type? Tremors may also occur in a patient suffering from Stroke.
