    Question SCI

    Please post any Strengthening regimen/Protocol for Paraplegics/tetraplegics..

    There are no specific protocols for strengthen with those after a SCI, however it is important that you strength all available muscles. As well as for those with a diagnosis greater than ASIA B to daily evaluate their strength and start with gravity minimize positions. Becareful not to over strength as they are at risk for overuse injuries if their primary means of mobility is through a wheelchair. Remember it is important that they also have a good stretching program, to further decrease risk of overuse injuries.

    Very well said.. Thanks for your inputs.. Is there any specific strengthening protocol for SCI to minimize de overuse injuries especially for de patients who are mobile using walker or elbow crutches i.e., Below T8

    Unfortunately not any specific overuse strengthening protocol (that I am aware of), for those who will be using assistive devices. However just becareful for alot of compensatory strategies that can lead to overuse injuries overtime. But continue to stress to people the need for stretching daily to minimize the incident of overuse injuries.
