Dear Nithilan,
I have treated hundreds of babies but never one suffering from facial palsy.
I hope someone else can help you.
Esther
I have a 1 year old son with left-sided facial palsy. On the day of delivery he did not close his left eye even during sleep. He completely closed his eyes while sleeping since the very next day. Now after a year's time, his blinking has only partially recovered and he shows bell's phenomenon as a reflex. There is still some deviation of mouth while frowing, smiling and crying. Also his eye does not close when he cries, but is almost fully closed when he sleeps. The nasal fold has also formed partially but it's not evident when he expresses emotions. When he is not expressing anything he looks very normal.
I use artificial tears and eye ointments for lubrication.. Since there is no treatment available for a newborn with FP, all I'm doing is waiting for it to recover fully on its own. I would feel happy if some of you share your experience in treating newborns with facial palsy.
Thanks in advance..
