    Sciatica

    Hi. My name is Taha and i am the student of physiotherapy. I wana ask that what is the treatment of sciatica espically exercises. I hope i get the best replly soon. Thanks..........!

    My Dear Taha,

    Sciatica is the compromise of sciatic nerve. Is that Bilaterally or Unilaterally.

    I would say that , the best treatment for sciatica is the Mobilisation the particular lumbar vertebra , also along with the Transverse gliding of the vertebra. I cant say about the grades of movmnt which should be provided as there is no information about lumbar degenaration. You can also put him in lumbar traction [ continous] . There will be pain induced muscle spasm around that region , so you may have some moist heat also. I think there will be difference after this. THANKYOU taha for bearing with me .

    i am khaleel
    working in UAE
    sciatica is radiating type of pain from lower back to down to leg
    but one thing should remember while diagnosing sciatica
    sciatica is not a diagnosis
    it is symptom
    diagnosis will be
    either
    piriformis syndrome or nerve compression from the disc
    in my clinic i did lot of differential diagnosis
    and i got quick result

    I agree, sciatica is a symptom.

    Need to diagnose the cause - namely the interface at which the nerve is being compressed or irritated. Check Lx spine and piriformis first in my opinion.
