Yoga as a complement to Physio?

    Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster. I'm grateful for all the knowledge I've gleaned from this community, but this question has not been addressed. I've been given some "take home exercises" that look a lot like "cat-cow," "bridge," and some of the T-frame twisting I used to do in my yoga practice. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience blending yoga and physio, especially home users following along with videos. Am I jeopardizing my treatment at all? How does the "lengthening" and "gentle twisting" focus of yoga affect my recovery?

I know these are tough nuts to crack (without all of my personal/injury/practice details!), so I'd be happy with some general experiences people have had combining Yoga and Physio.

    Hi,
exercise Videos are for 'healthy' people.
If you have a specific problem, it needs to be addressed in a specific way. And you are seeing a Physio for this.
You can blend Physio and Yoga very well - as long as the Yoga programme is specifically designed for you, acknowledging your circumstances.

If you feel you would like to add to your Physio programme, it is best to discuss this with your Physio.

    Good luck,
    Fyzzio

    Taping
I had a severe back pain and had to visit my physiotherapist in Toronto. He advised me to practise yoga daily. It can improve the health of our back, eliminate pain and also protect our back from further injury. I have found an article which describes the 4 yoga poses for a healthy back.

    Hope this would be helpful.
