Hi,
I'm a 30 year old male and I've recently discovered I have multiple discopaties in both my thoracic and lumbar spine. Doctors were surprised to see my spine was in such a bad condition, considering I'm not working in manual labor or anything like that. But as far as I could tell, the cause is a kyphosis and scorliosys (yes, I have those as well) left untreated, probably combined with unhealthy lifting habits and too much siting.
I've already been to all the specialists, I've done some physiotherapy (including a decompression table) and now I'm about to start working with a kinesiotherapist. I think it's also worth mentioning I don't have any chronical pain, although I do feel pain when I'm in certain postures. But nothing too bad.
Anyway, since I found out about 6 months ago, I stopped any physical activities and I'd really like to start again. Both because I hate having a belly (and bad posture) and because I don't think that doing only stretches and yoga for the rest of my life will be a healthy option either. I do think that if I'll get in shape and have a stronger muscle build (not talking about mister Olympia of course, just being in good shape), it will also help sustain my back and relieve some of the problems.
The problem is, I don't really know the workout DO'S and DON'T'S for what I have. And I've tried googleing it best I knew how, but haven't found anything useful. I'm planning on talking with the therapist I will work on kinetotherapy with as well, but I want more than one opinion on this, so here I am.
I'm really hoping you'll be able to give me some advice that will allow me to get back to an active lifestyle.
Thanks.
