Are private practices willing to sponsor 'limited reg' applications?

    Hi everyone,

I'm a English Trained physio (3 year degree) with about 5 years post grad experience. I am looking to move out to work in Australia for a couple of years but I am a little bit stuck with regards to what is the best route for obtaining registration.

I've discounted the exams completely as they are long, hard and expensive! Do any of you lovely people know what the situation is with employers in Oz? Are they happy to assist with limited registration in the public interest or do they steer clear?

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Ed

hi - in general, i would stay we steer clear. Don't know what limited registration is but if it involves paperwork, then probably no. You can try to go to NZ, spend a year there and then come over - i think a lot of people are trying that route...

    Cheers

The goal of physiotherapy is to restore optimum function - that is to move freely and maintain positions without causing damage either now or in the future. This requires the assessment and restoration of efficient load transfer throughout the whole body.

Thanks alophysio - I meant 'limited registration in the public interest' where an employer agrees to provide a certain amount of supervision. Makes us sound like criminals out o parole! I think it only involves one page for the employer but I know that that may be one too many when you are busy with a million other things. Why doesn't Australi just adopt the same process as NZ if everyone is going that way in?!
