registration options new zealand and australia ?!

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    hi ,

Im travelling to australia and new zealand this year and hoping to get work as a physio. Iv been looking into different registration options such as the limited registration in the public interest registration and also registrating in new zealand.

Does anyone have any advice on what the best option would be best?
Would i need to register with both bodies to work in OZ and New Zealand ?

Is it possible to work in Australia with the New Zealand registration ? or do you have to work in New Zealand first for a certain time frame ?

    Any advice welcome !!

Re: registration options new zealand and australia ?!

    Hi,
New Zealand and Australia are two different countries with different undergraduate programmes, registration boards and registration procedures. However, there is a mutual agreement between the two to facilitate registration in each country.
= You can apply for registration in Australia and once this has been formalised, you can apply for registration in NZ under the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition act.
    See here:
The Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand > Registration - Australian Qualified Physiotherapists

It also works the other way round, but I am not familiar with it.

However, with a Scotttish degree, getting registration in NZ should be easy, as your degree is very similar to the NZ one.

Just ... finding work in NZ currently isn't that easy ....

    Cheers,

Re: registration options new zealand and australia ?!

    Hello,
If applying for the NZ registration, you need to provide a prove that you are actually intending on going to NZ, such as a visa. Does anyone know whether a visitor visa is enough for the registration board (as I might want to go to work in Australia with the Trans Tasman act first and not "waste" the working holiday visa if not really necessary). Thank you very much for you help and advise!

    Hi,
I don't think you need to provide "prove", but I know that you have to get an APC and to tick a box on the application form that you intend to work in NZ.
Now, once you have ticked that - consider that you have signed a legally binding document....
