I understand your frustration - have struggled with knee pain without being able to properly identify the source and haven't gotten a satisfactory answer. Could it possibly because you might need to strengthen the muscles around your knees? I found strength training incredibly helpful and of course deloading and stopping all sorts of workout that might trigger the pain. Of course that is very much later in the process. You'll still need a satisfactory diagnosis that can help treat your pain....

Maybe as I've seen a physiotherapist once about a similar pain and she said it is very likely to be ITBS but also attributed it to my shin splints - it's like the weakening of the shins putting more stress on the knees, plus overtraining, etc, according to her. So sometimes the cause of the pain is not direct, it's always from a range of other causes. Although since it's near the bone, it could be something else altogether. I am just thinking, could it possibly be some form of tendinitis?
