Slit ventricles are small ventricles. They can occur after severe head injury or viral infection of the brain. The brain becomes so swollen that the fluid is pushed out of the ventricles. This article focusses on the appearance of slit ventricles after cerebro-spinal fluid diversion for example following a shunt.
