Clinical Gait Analysis

Hello all,
i tried posting this in the assesment section but for some reason it didn't appear there... strange... anyways...

I'm doing some research into the application of clinical gait analysis (CGA) and would like to ask if you or anyone you know uses CGA for assessing diagnosis besides cerebral palsy (and other numerological), orthotics and prosthetics.

I'm especially interested in hearing if someone uses CGA for patients with lower back pain, post trauma or post joint replacement.

I am not sure what you mean by CGA. Do you mean gait analysis generally, as applied to these conditions or do you mean a specific technique/equipment that is applied to these conditions?

If you mean the former there is quite a bit of literature out there on changed kinematics, kinetics and muscle firing patterns. Here is just one example for chronic low back pain:

The influence of low back pain on muscle activity and coordination during gait : a clinical and experimental study

If you mean the latter then I don’t know anything about that –although wouldn’t mind knowing more myself.

So does your research involve analysis re: coming up with a treatment to improve their gait?

I think you need to be a bit more specific in what you are looking for.
