I would love to learn more about both NLP and Feldenkrais but unfortunately I'm in New Zealand!!!! Have you heard of any physio's doing NLP down this way??
Thanks,
Rebecca
I have trained in NLP to Trainer level, and Feldenkrais to teacher level, and well as being a Physiotherapist specialising in Musculo-skeletal Medicine and Rehabilitation. I use the processes every day in my clinical practice. I am testing the waters to invite Physiotherapists who have come across these processes and would be interested in doing Introductory, and Practitioner NLP training with an emphasis on body mind connecetion. I am based in the South of the UK

Hi Jill,
I followed a NLP course and am aware of Feldenkrais and Hanna works. NLP isn't considered in France as a good technique since it's far from the traditional relation between patient/therapist.
Feldenkrais wasn't intended to be medical but contains many good things which may be found in Tai-Chi and Hanna (Somatics).
Hi Bernard, its good you have done some NLP. Its gone a long way since the first inceptions nearly 30 years ago, and when I'm using it I would deffinately say it different from the usual PT/ client relationship.I have several colleagues who work in France and train and use NLP in very large organisations, so I am not sure I agree with your comments that its considered a bad technique.Thats a generalisation. From the medical prospective, Feldenkrais originally began his work to explore his own knee condition, which was probably an anterior cruciate or similar laxity issue. The method can be use to assisst may people with diagnostic 'labels', and indeed I first came across it nearly 16 years ago, when a client gave me a set of tapes he had used in his post hip replacement and CVA rehab programme. It was given to him by a Physiotherapist who was using it as part of her neuro programme. However, it is different from traditional medicine because we work with the whole person. Incidentally Hanna trained with Feldenkrais and was a student of his for many years, then split. Feldenkrais was also a Judoki and wrote many books about Judo, I have some old ones here on my bookshelf, so yes there are links with eastern traditions. I have written a chapter in Complementary Therapies for Physical Therapists published in 2000 by Butterworth Heinemann, and also produce CD's of the work.
I am running an NLP Introduction two days, the 10th and 11th September, here in Reading. Its in aid of the Niger famine appeal. Contact me if you would like to come
Hi Rebecca,
Yes there are Physios who have trained inthe method in NewZealand. If you e.mail me direct I'll send yo a link to a couple of sites where you could get info.
Hi,
Anyone know any physios in Sydney doing this? I am also trained in NLP, not Feldenkrais though; have not worked out a viable way of including NLP in with my physio sessions but can see great value in doing this.
Would love to know how you are bringing the methods together in clinical practice.
thanks,
Rosie
Yes there are Feldenkrais Trained Physiotherapists in Sydney. If you key in the Australian Guild of Feldenkrais Practitioners you should get a hit. I use NLP all the time in 'clinic' practice. First I use it myself. I always set an anchored resourseful state prior to working. I teach anchoring to clients with chronic pain problems, use all the language patterns, meta programmes, and Erikson Language. Second positioning I find very helpful for clients who have been given traumatic diagnosis of terminal or life threatening illness.I use a trauma release process which is very healing for RTA etc clients. I use both NLP and Feldenkrais processes all day every day!
Hello All,
Has been interesting reading these threads.
Could anyone direct me to a good teaching acadamy where i maybe able to learn NLP to assist me in my practise? I have been interested in this for some time now... However some of the practitionaer courses appear costly... and i would like to explore all options.
Many thanks for any reply.
