I'm a new grad physio and just started my rotation in outpatients. I had a lady come in yesterday with a referral to treat her TMJ. She is not experiencing any pain, only when chewing hard things but her troubling issue is that she can hear it grinding. The functional xray shows that on opening the left side is not sliding back fully.
I was hoping for some guidance on how to treat this lady as this is my first TMJ pt, and she is not presenting "typically" as she is not experiencing any pain. I gave her some general exercises - the one with the pen in the mouth, tongue to the roof of her mouth, and some active pro/ret, lat glides.
If you have any advice please help me out as I am running a bit blind on this one!
