Is there room for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques in physiotherapy?

    Taping
    Hi

I am about to start my dissertation and am looking at the perceptions and beliefs of physiotherapy students towards CBT principals.

just wondered if anyone had any views on the use of the approach in physiotherapy and any supporting literature would be fantastic.

    Thanks

    Hi Rachel,

We are using CBT in the Netherlands in some cases these days.
I suggest asking the same question to members of our Society.
They (the staff) are a little busy with the WCPT congres at the moment but
they should be able to give you some contact details of people who can tell you more.

    Good luck

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
I thought this was already widely used in the OT Department and also in some of the neuropschology departments. In fact a client or two of mine have been seen privately for CBT to assist with some anxiety issues. From a personal perspective I suppose it has a place for the right patient and the right clinical pathway a team is on. I think that this is an approach that all members of a team need to be on board with in relation to that individual. In saying that I think it would be hard to generalize with someones feelings to the use of CBT in a general sense.
