PT from the Netherlands who has worked here for 25 years, but now is unemployed.

    Taping
Has anyone lost their job due to the Federal Law stating that PT's can only treat Medicare/Medicaid patients if the PT graduated from an accredited school?
I have, and am unable to get a job, because every new job now requires foreign trained PT's to have graduated from a CAPTE approved school. I have worked in the USA as a PT since 1986, now all of a sudden I can't anymore, it is ridiculous and frustrating.
I have heard lawyers are working on changing the law or grandfathering in older PT's.
I cannot find any info on the internet, nor can I find anyone to talk to about the status of what is going on. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
Numbers to call, people to talk to???

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
It does sound a rather nasty turn. I'd think there should be grandfathering, but I'm not familiar with the American PT system. If it is so, you may have the exam loophole.

I'd always heard that if we in Canada wanted to work in the states we had to do the US written and practical physical therapy exams, the NPTE, to be able to. But also, each state had different requirements, so it's not a general sweeping statement. If you wanted to work in Canada, you'd have to do our written and practical exams, as well.

Now, I'm not sure if we now would be denied as well...I'd have to look at that list of CAPTE approved schools.
