I am a physiotherapist from Finland. For my former education I am a car mechanic (what a combination) and I have been looking for a way to combine my degrees which is proving to be easier said than done. I have been trying to land a job in prosthesis user rehab or assistive technology in general but I have had no luck at all. I have been searching opportunities abroad but it is hard to land an international job without relevant experience. Additionally the situation of employment is very bad here in Finland for physios at least. The last time I checked there are about 150 unemployed physios just in my home city (about 100 000 inhabitants). In my opinion that is a huge number, at least I am not on my own... I am concerned that soon I would have to re-educate myself and throw my former education to waste. That option scares me a lot![]()
Then I started to think about car industry and a question came to mind. Does the autoindustry employ physios in any form? I am thinking something about ergonomics and design or something similar.
Any other ideas would be absolutely welcome. Basically I am looking for a position where I could somehow make my physio skills connect with my technical know-how. Any advice, any help, any contacts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
