So, I want to be a Physiotherapist and I am working towards hopefully gaining entry next year to do an accelerated masters.
I genuinely would love to work in this area and have been dreaming about it for some time, however, I have had my concerns lately with the profession.
Although I am fit, I have a heart condition. I run/ lift weights (moderately)/cycle daily. I know the profession is very physically demanding, and a friend of mine said to me that I should consider a different career path as it will be too physically demanding for someone with a heart condition. I know it also probably demands on which area of Physio I work in.
To be honest, I didn't even consider my heart condition hindering my ability, but now that he's put it in my head it's making me doubt myself and my ability to go on and study Physiotherapy. I know the best person to ask about this would be my cardiologist/GP.
I feel a bit deflated, saddened. I am 28, and was really focusing on this, building my hours as a volunteer etc
Thoughts and advice would be appreciated.
All the best,
