Ok folks, a general question here. I read often about capsular patterns and their significance etc but how do you actually treat one. After immobilisation after a fracture or operation I find mobilising/stretching the capsule works great. I had a couple of shoulder patients of late who had insidious capsular patterns {i.e. no immobilisation or apparent injury and also nowhere near as bad as a frozen shoulder) and decided to do capsular stretches with them. (Normally, capsular stretches work wonders for me for shoulders that are unidirectionally restricted). However, with one patient stretching the capsule just seemed to be too painful and make her worse. With the other guy, he was great with pain, it seemed to slowly help but I saw him 10 times and it still wasn't fully resolved by the end of it all.
