    Exclamation dull aching in back

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
    hi friends..
I m a physio...but at the same time, I m patient. I have dull thoraco-lumber pain. Almost 2 wks over......but pain is still there. I think its due to my low level of activity......as I m at home since last 3 months.....
For the pain I can say that.. if some one tries to massage my back...I feel lighter n much reduction in pain. But it comes back within 15 mins........
I usually sense it when I m free..means its not so severe that creates problem in my working......
I jus wanna knw..... what might b other causes of these type of pain. n if u knw some gud n new exercises let me knw.

    your help is much appreciated.

Thumbs up Re: dull aching in back

    hi dear,

wel my pain is dull tooth aching sort of.
aggrevating factor is as u knw its common --that is anterior flexion.
relieving factor is massaging n sitting with little extension of thoracic region.
area of pain is between the two scapulae n little lower to that area.
    VAS scale--4
24hr behaviour-- increaced after long time standing. so mostly after cooking --so its afternoon. also more before sleeping at night.

my postur..e----wel, my lumber lordosis is slightly increased..
so there is little anterior pelvic tilt.
other things are near to normal...
level of activity.......by nature..I m little lasy person.. I use to take rest most the
time as.. right now I m not practising...physiotherapy.

    no history of trauma..........

In addition I would like to say that I feel more pain while having physical relations with my husband........specially at the time of excitement... n sometime it gives the sensetion of eletric shock... I can say that this pain which I m feeling is started after my marraige means almost 10 months..

    Thanks for ur personal interest..

    Mansi.

    Re: dull aching in back

You mention you have back pain with an increase in lumbar lordosis.

    Please try this exercise:

Sitting at the edge of a chair notice how your back feels by tilting your back forward and backward / ant & post tilt. Firstly, try sitting up (ant tilt), then slowly release the tension in your low back (you should notice some eccentric grading), and relax back onto your tail bone. This step should decrease your lumbar lordosis.

Give this a try and report back your response and feeling in the low back.

Sorry for the lack of detail, this is not a specific back pain relieving exercise as such. It is used to guage the onset of pain, and the range within discomfort occurs. When sitting down for example you may be able to alleviate discomfort if pain occurs with ant tilt, by sitting backward some and bringing the navel point in to touch the spine.

Also, this exercise is used to extend into a traditional relaxation mind-body exercise. Yogis of the past judged age for example, not by chronological age, but by the flexibility in ones spine. As such such yogic or mind- body exercises involve deep relaxation breathing with expansions of the diaphragm. Subsequently contraction of the abdominal muscles is completed. This act essentially trains your girdle to take over some of the muscle activity which your back is probably over compensating for.

From the initial exercise provided the idea was to understand do your symptoms appear aggravated upon extension or on flexion. As well when you add side flexion is there a change in symptoms. Finally, do you have any muscle activity in the abdomen during the movements or is it primarily your back muscles activated during eccentric relaxation.

    Regards
