Hello:

I am on week 6 of my injury of a non-displaced TPF without surgery. Last week I had an MRI done and picked up a copy of the results today. The good news is that there is no tears to any ligaments or the meniscus. There are two sentences that I am confused about however and was hoping someone could help explain.

1) There is evidence of a lipoma hemarthrosis with probable blood product in the suprapatella bursa. There is a small effusion.
2) Cartilage contusion and some cartilage loss with chondromalacia overlying the fracture.

So I'm understanding this to mean that there is blood and fluid but from what I've found online, it says that a lipoma is a benign tumor. I'm also confused about the chondromalacia, is this pre-exsisting or because it's overlying the fracture, is it caused by the fracture?

I have an appt with the doc next week but wanted to see if anyone else was familiar with these terms and could provide some insight.
