    Major problem / Symptomatic Areas

    Knee - Anterior - Left

Total Knee Replacement - Ice & Exercise regime questions

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
Had a TKR a week ago and would appreciate some expert advice to help me with the recovery please.
My knee has been troublesome for 10 years and its muscle condition has been neglected. Recently an impingement in the hip has also been diagnosed which has further affected the mobility and strength.
Anyway, TKR was done and massive swelling. All is well though. My questions:
    1. How many times a day should I use Ice and for how long?
    2. I am unable to raise my straight leg when lying flat on back.- also on back, leg straight not enough strength to move leg left/right. Muscles too weak. Which exercises will help to strengthen the muscles to be able to do this?

    Much obliged.
    Ed

Re: Total Knee Replacement - Ice & Exercise regime questions

Physiotherapy After Surgery is an important part of that recovery. Patients who prepare for surgery and actively take part in their care canrecover in less time and with less knee pain. Rehab exercises will help you walk, climb stairs, and return to other normal activities more quickly.
This knee pain treatment guide has general information along with tips for things to do before and after knee replacement to help you make it a success.
