    motor assessment for newborns

    Cerebral Palsy In Infancy
    Hello,
    is there a reliable motor assessment scale i can use for newborns i.e. from birth onwards. i would like to know the kind of scale that concentrate more on the upper limbs if there is any.

    the most common scales for motor assesment is :-
    - Alberta Infant Motor scale

    -if the patient is CP, u can use GMFCS .. that is " Gross Motor Function Classification System for cerebral palsy "

    but i don't know any scale that concentrate on Upper limbs ..

    Hi!
    for babies under 4 months, you have the Amiel-Tison assessment scale, including Dr Grenier tests. The last ones have a big interest, no child with CP or other neuro conditionscan pass them, so if the baby succeeds you can be sure he's normal. Le Metayer tests are specific for CP babies as well, but I don't think they can be used on newborns.
