    Brief Medical History Overview

    ACL knee brace

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi everybody,
I had a knee injury about 2 years ago and again last year and I was diagnosed (MRI) a full ACL rupture.

I don't heve any pain now,I can run straigh line but I have problems when changing directions.I am doing my workout for leg muscles but it is not enough for knee stability.

I would not like to go to surgery so I was wandering if an ACL knee brace could help me return to sports?
Thing is,I was training aikido before my injury and I was hoping to came back to it...

    Thanks for answers...

    Re: ACL knee brace

If you have the surgery for a reconstruction you should be able to return to Aikido. I am not sure a brace would be permitted though in any competition in Aikido though. You are seeing the lack of rotational stability that the ACL helps provide. No brace in isolation will stabilise for that entirely. A specific ACL brace and the surgery will be useful for activities like skiiing. The repair itself should be enough with good and extensive rehab to return to Aikido.

    Aircast Airselect Short Boot
do you have recommendations for specific brands and models?

I have damaged (not fully torn) my ACL and possibly patella and MCL through a variety of sports over the years. I have not had surgery (although I will at some point) as my knees recovered each time and I don't experience any serious problem with them. I am still active in sport and I want to buy a good hinged knee brace for sports such as skiing, snowboarding and basketball. There are decent looking USD100 and below ones but I'm wondering if these are adequate to prevent further injury. i hope to buy one that provides very strong support but allowing dynamic mobility at the same time.
