    Exclamation Knee Injury

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
Hi, i'll try to give as much information as possible.

Towards the end of june I wen't on a mountain climbing trip with my school which took me up the stirling ranges (Western Australia). Not only was it one of the most painful things of all time, I managed to hurt my knee going down tourist steps they had on the last mountain (Bluff Knoll). I took painkillers but they didn't help at all. Ever since i've been getting knee pain whenever I run or do any exersize. I assured myself that if I rested the knee it would heal but here I am, 5 months on with the same knee pain. Sometimes one knee hurts more than the other but both knees are giving me trouble. I don't think it's a cartilage problem as the pain is in both knees, but i'm no doctor. Anyone?

    Re: Knee Injury

Firstly you should go see a physio because it's been 5 months and it isn't going away. Someone needs to examine the knees (and the ankles and hips)
Where do you feel the pain... if it's in the front of your knee Id be thinking it could be a patellar tendinopathy from all that downhill walking your did... or it could be a patellofemoral tracking issue (which can be also coming from ankle or hip) and it came on with the intense walking. Go get some physio though. From what you'v said I could name 4 or 5 things that it could be and would need to see you to differentiate.
    good luck

    Re: Knee Injury

I saw a podiatrist and he said it had to do with my flat feet causing my tibia to not sit right with my knee cap. He's going to give me orthotics, lets hope it helps.....

    Aircast Airselect Short Boot
Sounds ideal - with your kind of pain orthotics are often the first thing i look at because they can provide very quick releif - don't forget to strengthen the muscles of supination if you find the orthotics work.
