Hi,
7 weeks ago I had my foot crushed. It was crushed up the outside of my ankle and nearly the entire top of my foot. I couldn't walk for 2-3 days so had it x-rayed, which showed nothing. It improved to the point where I could walk, but the pain was the same. I also had very limited mobility- I couldn't move my foot down at all, or out to the side. I could move my foot up slightly and inward.
After two weeks with no improvement I went to my doctor who said "you can walk now, what do you expect me to do?" My doctor would not even write me a note for physiotherapy, but I went anyway. At this point a large bump appeared on the outside edge of my foot. The physiotherapist used some electrical current device and light therapy (sorry, I forget the actual names). They suggested that I have a bone scan and wrote a letter to my doctor. My doctor refused, but sent me for another x-ray which again showed nothing. The electric therapy device was extremely painful, even when on very low so I stopped going. The prescribed exercises were also very painful.
Four weeks without improvement, and extremely upset, I went back to my doctor who then said "well I don't know, I'm just a family doctor." A couple days later they referred me to a sports medicine doctor (YAY!). Sports medicine doctor said the bump was my peroneus brevis tendon and that I need a bone scan and ultrasound. I've attached a picture of the bone scan.
So, 7 weeks later the sports medicine doctor can't get me in for another 2 weeks. I'm thinking the bone scan shows a fracture?? Still no news on the ultrasound- but I'm worried my tendon is torn. I still can't bend my foot down or out. I pushed off my toes one day and had HORRIBLE pain up the outside of my ankle. I've been walking on my foot this entire time and I'm quite worried I've done more damage. Any suggestions?
Edit: I've also attached a picture of my foot a week after the injury. My foot is extremely swollen in this picture, although it may be hard to tell at first glance without seeing my other foot. If you look just above and to the left of the purple bruising on the outside edge of my foot, you can see a red line (about 2 inches long). The line is still there and outlines the large bump on my foot (just to give an idea of how large the bump is).
