Pain upper groin area

Good Morning All,

As a new member wonder if anyone can assist please? I have seen the previous posts about this, but unsure what the etiquette is?
I have had a couple of episodes of pain in upper left hand inner groin. It's now coming back when it appears I have stretched or taken what feels like larger strides?
I did recently fall quite heavily at work (tripped over insecure cables..) and I did have Bowel Cancer back Sept 2006. Any idea's? Been to my Doctor's and she has no idea either?

Hi Scoobs,

Is the pain worse a any particular times of the day? eg in the morning as you get up
How old are you?
Did you have an xray or any other investigaions/treatment after you had your fall at work?
How long ago was your fall at work?

It is hard to provide any particular sources for the pain without a physical assessment, as pain in the groin an be as aresult of many areas.
Commonly this can be the due to degenerative changes in the hip joint, or alternatively it could be related to a bony/ligament injury in from the fall
As it is aggrivatedd when you try to take longer strides it may be related to soft tissue tension/imbalance in the groin

Either way I would recommend that you seek a further advice in person so that an accurate assessment could be made

Chris, thank you very much for your reply, my sincere apologises for the long delay BUT I had forgotten my password< No particular time but when it starts (like a stitch) it now stays with me for most of the day! I am 57 years young..
It was about three weeks ago, I went to the local hospital (on the day) and they x rayed the knee (as that is what I was complaining about at the time) Seen my Doc now a couple of times.. she has no idea but thinks muscle strain.. but because of my history is now going to refer me back to my Consultant.
Pain is now getting more consistant and starts as a stitch type pain then stays with me when I move. Don't feel nauseous but feel quite unwell and apparently grey in colour..

Hi,

This could be completely irrelevant but I had pain in my groin area .... i hadnt had any fall, just a sharp stabbing pain when i went out running one day (i run most days so this wasn't unusual exercise!!). I had described it to the doctors as being a stabbing pain in by pubic area..... on the right side. It was worse when i stood on my leg and i could also feel it when i was sitting but it wasnt as bad. I was given a few diagnoses.... groin strain/ligament damage/muscle tear..... also one of the physios said there was nothing wrong with my going area and it was referred pain from my back!

After a battle to get a letter for an MRI, it turned out i actually had fractured my pelvis.... inferior pubic ramis to be more specific! Very unusual for someone of my age (25). Ive since had blood tests and my bone function appears normal so its possible it was just a random fracture.... although id be interested to hear if anyone has any thoughts on another possible explanation??!!!

As i said, it may be completely irrelevant but I would suggest that you get an MRI scan if possible as it will either rule in or rule out what it might be. Also, as far as i know (could be wrong) but an X-ray may not show up a fracture especially if its only a minor one! Plus the MRI will show up any muscle damage etc...

Anyway... i really hope you manage to determine the root of the pain..... its extremely frustrating not knowing!

Thank you for that, my sincere apologises for the long delay before replying but I had forgotten my password<< My Doc still has no idea but has referred me back to my Consultant, when pain is here it's quite horrid.. BUT it's not every day so awaits the referral
