Hi,

My 14yo son recently had a bad fall from his mountain bike (onto asphalt) confirmed torn ACL after an MRI and a 2nd opinion from a surgeon.

He is an avid footballer (Australian Football) and my understanding is that he cannot play until the ACL is repaired through surgery.

Both surgeons and physio are saying that surgery isn't recommended at that age as they are drilling through growth plates etc.

I guess I'm wondering what the success rates for ACL surgery is for that age group and if future complications arise, what are the issues as he gets older?

Thanks heaps.
