    Sports Injury Books

Hi, was just wondering if anyone had a particular preference when using a book for sports injuries, at uni we have been told Norris is our bible but im just curious if anyone else feels another book is better?

    Re: Sports Injury Books

I love warren hammer for extremity Injury for a broad approach in specifics terms - very good for nerve impingement explanation. However best to just look at it if your lecture recommends a book they read it and their knowledge might be drawn from that book, hence I exams put what they say you will get marks. So read around subject but keep to what has been taught and try not to spread wings to early in terms of radical thinking.

Not sure about the comparison, I havent read Norris - but most of NZ and Australia use Brukner and Khan: Clinical Sports Medicine. I like it, easy to read and based on good practice. Good luck

    Re: Sports Injury Books

    Taping
If you're at uni then you should get access to the books through your library so you can try before you buy - and always be mindful of your recommended reading because they probably form the bulk of your lectures

It can get a bit awkward because different lecturers might prefer different texts - then when you go on outpatients the department might use something else

To cover virtually all bases for sports injury i'd say Brukner and Khan is a must along with Magee's Orthopaedic Physical Assessment then perhaps Shacklocks Clinical Neurodynamics

Those type of books do cost a lot of money but they are at a level which will see you well on your way in your career
