Medics shouldnt get blamed for player injuries

This article from a professional Premier League Physio explains why the medical team get the blame for injuries by their respective managers.

I don't think they should, he emphasises that's its their job to prevent re-injury. Here is the link to the article: The Secret Footballer | Coaches hold the key to injury prevention

Managers should hold more responsibility - spot on.

Anything been spilled online as to who this Physio is?

Why shouldn't the medical get blamed?

Would you a) want full responsibility for the players injuries?? or b) let coach take the blame?

    a) Is easily the best; you have the respect as the expert with the full responsibility for the management & prevention of your team injuries & health. Is that not want the physiotherapists role is? The knowledge & the authority, and respect as a professional to have the full responsibility? Should you not be striving to improve your rehabilitation, load & risk monitoring programs, injury prevention programs ect... so that your team has less injuries?

    or

    b) Ok lets blame coach; but what you do is give the responsibilities for the players health & injuries in the hands of someone who is 'technical skill' specialist, and not medical. Why would you do that? Do you blame the administrators at hospitals if the doctor did his surgery wrong? Or more extreme would you let the administrators/office staff/receptionist do the heart surgery? NO because its not their responsibility; but more importantly they don't have the training nor the skills to do that. Why should football or any sports team be any different? If physiotherapist is not responsible then affectively you give decisions regarding players or athletes health in the hands of the coach or people without the knowledge. Which is very much the wrong approach, both in terms of athletes health & team's long-term performance. Blame me, i want that blame (& thus the respect/responsibility to do my job).

If you look at the studies eg. Hagglund (2013) study, that has found that injury rates directly affects performance in the UEFA Champion League. And how much focus on injury prevention can have big impact on performance. This is the physiotherapist/medical teams responsibilities, and they can have big impact, that can help the coaches. They should work as a team, skills/technical coaches or managers are responsibility are that 'technical' or 'skill' and can help & be responsible in their area of expertise, where-as 'medical' should help & be responsible in their area of expertise. So that team's can achieve their best performances.

So yes the medical team are to blame; and are responsible.
