European qualified Physiotherapist with NZ registration, allowed to register in OZ?

    Hi there,
I am currently studying physiotherapy in the Netherlands and will be finished this year.
I want to migrate to Australia (I have done parts of my practical work experience for my studies there), but am not sure about the best way to approach this. The Australian Skills Assessment takes such a long time.
If I do the NZ registration, will I have to also do the full Australian Skills Assessment before being able to look for a sponsorship visa there, or not? (it is not clear to me, if only people that have actually studied in NZ and thus have the registration are allowed to work in Australia without the full 3 part assessment?)
I hope anyone can help, as I have tried several pathways now to find an answer (australian physio council, etc) but no direct answer..
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi,
just in regards to NZ: Anyone who is registered as a Physiotherapist in NZ under the "general" category and holds a current Annual Practicing Certificate can apply for registration in Australia under the Trans Tasman Mutal Recognition programme.
As for NZ, applications are handled on a one-to-one basis, so they will not make generalised comments about your chances for getting registration over the phone or via email. They will want to have a closer look at your application first.

    AHPRA - Forms
see: Application for Trans Tasman recognition as a physiotherapist - ATMR-08 (532 KB,PDF)

You should be able to get NZ registration with a 4 year Dutch BSC and some work experience. However, please note that the NZ application form requires you to sign a statuary declaration confirming that you intend to work in NZ.

    Regards,
    Fyzzio

How is the NZ board going to ensure that one does stay and work in NZ, other than making one sign the stat declaration?
