Normally I wouldn't create a thread about this but enough is enough. The Alliance is probably one of the worst run physiotherapy regulators and I know many people (including Canadian graduates) share the same sentiment. It is time to share your stories and your bad experiences with them so that they start to make some changes.
1) They're understaffed. How are you supposed to complete tasks efficiently and on time if there are so few employees? They're making so much $$$ via the credentialling process, courses, and after jacking up the prices for the PCE/PNE, but they refuse to hire more staff/employees. Obvious signs of a money-grabbing organization
2) Their employees rarely go the extra mile to meet our needs. Documents that could be faxed in a matter of a minutes to the College takes 10-12 business days for them. From what I understand, the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario usually contacts The Alliance regarding documents missing for provisional/independent certificates/licenses but they rarely receive responses from them on time. Every time I've dealt with the College(s), they've been MUCH more professional and quicker with their processing times!
3) I've heard complaints about people writing the written PCE exam in Toronto. One international physio said in April or May 2013 they weren't allowed to bring a watch into the exam room and there wasn't a clock at the front of the room either so they were relying on the inviligator to tell them how much time was left. Can't say I was surprised when I heard about that.
4) For the practical exam at Princess Margaret Hospital, the meeting time for our exam was at 12 noon. We didn't start our first station until about 1:40 PM. Again, this is due to the lack of staff, organization and etc.
Please share other personal stories that you have about The Alliance.
Regards
