Attention Overseas Educated Physiotherapists: New Competencies
The Physiotherapy Board has recently developed new competencies that will be used as the standard by which all physiotherapists applying for registration in New Zealand are measured. The new competencies are detailed in the document Physiotherapy Competencies for physiotherapy practice in New Zealand.
As previously announced the new competencies will supersede the old competencies for applications for registration from overseas educated physiotherapists on 1 September 2009. Applications must be based on the new competencies using the new forms (that will be released later this week). Furthermore, as at 1 September 2009, the fee for applications for registration from overseas educated physiotherapists will be NZ$1,200.00 (including GST).
Applications for registration from overseas educated physiotherapists based on the old competencies (detailed in 'Registration Requirements') will only be accepted for a limited time. If you are nearing the completion of your application, based on the old competencies, these will still be accepted by the Physiotherapy Board if the application is received prior to 1 September 2009.
Please keep checking the website for updated information prior to submitting an application for registration.
