Glad to see I'm not the only one finding this exteremely detailed and time-consuming and happy to have a forum to discuss questions. Any suggestions for the below queries would be greatly appreciated!
1)For each of the three core area templates the forth section asks to 'Demonstrate autonomous practice as an entry level physiotherapist encompassing cardiovascular/pulmonary, neurology and musculoskeletal bases of physiotherapy management.'
I'm going to include the clinical placements which state in the hand-book increasing autonomy but obviously for pre grad section it wont be as entry level therefore contradiction really. Another other suggestions about what people have included in pre-grad section. It's also different from the rest as no seperate components. What have people inlcuded in post grad work I'm assuming IPR's e.t.c
2) Is everyone transfering their current reflections into the template the board provide? I know someone who gained reg last year and she said she didnt do this, is it a new requirement?

How you getting on with it all?
1) For the entry level stuff, I have used undergrad evidence from placements preparing me for graduate level practice, particularly final placement and from the final year modules, reflections and presentations from modules which state in the course handbook that it is aimed to ensure the student meets the requirements for entry level physio. We also completed a module in professional practice which included a reference to the KSF so have used this.
For the postgrad section I've just included a range of everything from each core area that I've completed as a post grad.
2) Yes I have transferred all of my reflections to the template, this might not be a requirement but I don't want to risk them sending it back.
When you planning on moving over to NZ and where you going? I'm hoping to have all the documents and everything completed to send off in Jan (well thats the deadline I've given myself), been doing it on/off alongside FT and PT employment for about 4 months now and slowly getting there.

I have set myself the deadline of end of October but who knows if I'll have completed it, very hard to do a full time job alongside! I am aiming to leave the Uk in January and will travel untill autumn 2013 so aiming to be in NZ around Sep/Oct. Ideally I would like to work in South Island but a previous colleague of mine has a job in Auckland so I think I will settle where the jobs are!
I didn't think we could include pre-grad evidence? I know previously you could but seems to have changed recently, I will probably cross referecnce evidence to prove my autonomous practice!
Currently I am struggling with the middle section, not sure whether to keep it general or too go into detail e.g should I say I use outcome measures or literally list all the ones I use.....think I'll keep it more general. I'm going to ring the board tonight as really need to clarify some points.
When are you planning to get to NZ? Have you been qualified long?

Have been trawling through this thread and wondered if anyone could update me on the current situation in NZ in terms of job availability? Need to check if it is as bad as the rumours suggest before I start the registration process.

Has anyone managed to get registration since the forms were reviewed in may 12? Have people sent off clinical placement reports and did you need any additional stamps from the university for these? Did anyone manage to get he registration before getting a visa through?many thanks, great thread and has been very helpful so far.

did you get your registration in dec 11? Would it be possible to send me an example of one of your templates? I have put all my paperwork I think I need together but want to ensure that I have included everything that I need to. I am worried that my neuro and respiratory evidence may be weaker.

Hi everyone,
There's some useful information on this thread which is so helpful as the new format application form feels a little repetitive and confusing! I started applying for registration a couple of years ago and got side-tracked so it was quite a shock to return to my application recently and essentially need to start again. Like a few other requests on here I would really appreciate it if anyone could email me a copy of a successfully completed template to gain an idea of how much detail is required. It certainly implies in the guidance notes that the templates are more of an index of supporting documents than anything - is this correct?
I have plenty of content from my old application notes to create reflective statements - so may be able to help with Treaty of Waitangi info...

I thought I'd just let you know a few things so that you could learn from my mistakes.
- When the board say to do it on the most recent forms they mean it! I never checked to see if forms had been updated since I originally downloaded them and sent them off in Sept. The board have sent the whole application back to me.
- Also make sure your referees send the original form through as photocopies will not be accepted.
- Do not copy and paste job descriptions from your jobs(nhs in my case) directly into the CV. This needs to be in your own words.
- If you send a certificate as evidence, make sure it is accompanied by a reflection.
- For the treaty of Waitangi, it was suggested to me to include reference to research undertaken with regards to the treaty.
Anyway, I'm off to complete another application!

Was just wondering if you could clarify your point 4. When you say certificates do you mean CPD courses? Because on the application guidelines it states that CPD certificates must be accompanied by course descriptions and I wasn't aware that we had to do a reflective statement on it at all?? Is that what they wrote to you?

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. There were one or two things I was concerned with. Firstly for the proof of getting a visa or that you are aiming to travel to NZ do they reqire that you have the visa obtained before applying? I'm not to keen on spending money on getting a visa if I dont get registration? I was going to just put in the working hliday visa form but from the sounds of things that would just get returned??
Also for CPD courses someone had stated you need a reflective statement done on all the courses you've attended but on the guidelines it states a certficate for CPD with accompanying course content and schedule is seen as 'supporting evidence'.
Also in the competencies did you just write in where the relevant document was located in your application or did you write a little paragraph or sentence relevant to the competency?
Could you point out some of the issues you've had as from what I am reading I am quite fearful despite spending way too much time on this bloody application it'll be sent back for something I may have missed! I'm so close now and just want it done and dusted!

All you need for visa is a typed page explaining your plans on getting a visa. Write a paragraph explaining planned arrival date and which visa you will be applying for. Maybe put an email from the visa beurau in to show them you have been looking into it. I got mine through the 'family stream' as my husband has a work visa. But it doesnt matter which visa you are getting, just show some evidence of your plans. No you dont need to get the visa before being here.
For CPD courses you just need a page/paragraph explaining the course description & outline. You can make this page and put it with the course certificate. No reflective statement needed for this.
Make sure ALL copies of important documents (i.e. passport/uni degree certificates) are certified correctly. Read the guidelines and make sure your certifier has done it right...even if they are a solicitor (they can still make mistakes).
My main issue was not enough info on my first degree (sports science) I did it so long ago the course descriptors were too vague so i needed i cover letter from the uni explaining the detail of my course. But that was just me. If you have only a Physio degree they dont have anything else to be picky about!

Hi guys, everyone gets there's returned once, but don't fret it will go through easy enough. Nutmeg you just put on form 'awaiting acceptance prior to applying for working holiday visa', theyre happy with that.
I'm from UK and employed currently as a physio in NZ (start oct '12), my contract is until feb '14. obviously my working holiday visa is only 12 months, but I understand you can't extend it to work further, is this correct? if so, what visa should i get please? queenstown awaits for an adventure afterwards, then oz via trans tasmanian. Live the dream! :)

You need to apply for a work visa. I have one of them valid until 2015 It only took one week to process (i'm in Auckland)

Just a small question about how much experience you need for the second parts of the competencies- how much experience is needed. I have been working in a neuro setting for four years, I would be okay with resp but I dont have a lot of musculoskeletal experience. I am in Oz at the moment so I cant work to gain any more experience, would you guys recommend me to do a course to prove I am competent in this area.

I have a similar query to Maireads if anyone would be able to help if possible.
I did a 3 year BSc Physio degree that included the 1000 Clinical Hours required and have 15months post graduate experience but my postgrad experience has pretty much no CVP experience. What do you put into the '3-5 items of postgrad supporting evidence' section if this is the case? I have 1 or 2 reflections of the minimal CVP postgrad interactions I had, but the board advises not to use too many of the same types of evidence. Has anyone any idea what else could be used? Have looked into getting any upcoming Resp courses but cant seem to find any (in Ireland).
Any suggestions/help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
hi kevin i am samuel i did my batchellors of physiotherapy in india and i also have 2 yrs work experience as a physiotherapist in india now i am doing my graduate diploma in sports and exercise science in newzealand now i am in very critical position as i am unable to decide what to do now as they are saying indian qualification is not valid in nz can u plz help me in the process
Hey, you lucky thing. I paid for my medical, but its cheaper to do it in NZ once your here, much cheaper than UK. My visa wasnt too expensive as got it through the family stream.Quote:

Im in a very similar situation, my post grad experience is more neuro orientated so im finding it difficult to get evidence of specific MSK and CVP things. I have mainly done some reflections and i read a couple of articles that i have done appraisals for. How have you got on? managed to find any evidence?
