    New Zealand registration- CV

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hi,
It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one a little bit bogged down by the massive application! Luckily I know a few people who have sucessfully applied so have been asking them lots of questions! But don't want to bother them too much so a question for the forum (I'm sure they'll be lots more before I've completed it).

I'm filling in the CV section and note at the top it states put down rotations in a job section. I have completed seven rotations and there are only three sections. Should I group rotations together into the three core areas or can I add more sections?

    Thanks

    Claire

    Re: New Zealand registration- CV

    Hi Claire
I am also doing the mammoth task that is the NZ registration process! How are you getting on with it? Yes you are able to add more sections to the form.
I have copied and pasted additional sections for each of my posts but not for individual rotations. I have just wrote about the different rotations within that specific job section . Hope that makes sense! I have a 10 year work history to document though...it's already at 18 pages and still not finished!

    Good Luck!

    Claire

    Hi,

I'm looking at doing my registration at the moment but currently in Sydney making it that much harder. How did you both find the process? Any tips on completing the forms as I don't know anyone who has done it.

Anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks

    Re: New Zealand registration- CV

    Hi Claire, Claire and Charlie,

I'm just starting the daunting process of filling out the forms, I have 10 years experience now since qualifying and not sure how valid some of it is for the forms!? It would be great to get in touch with one of you to see how you are getting on / got on with any advice or tips? I would be very grateful. My email is [email protected]

    Many thanks!

    Zoë

    Hi All,

I am currently trying to complete the CV part of the application. Can anyone suggest key things to put in the personal statement section and roughly how long it should be?

    Thanks

    Annika

    Hi Claire,

maybe a dumb question, but I am Dutch so there's my excuse: what do they mean with rotations within a job? Do they mean have I worked in different areas, e.g. with different kinds of patients (elderly, children, sports etc)

    Thank you,

    Geert

    Hi Geert,
in Great Britain, Australia, NZ etc., the first job is typically in one of the larger hospitals/ trusts. So, you have got one job, e.g. Band 5 Physio, and then do 3 month or 6 month rotations within this hospital. Each rotation is in a different clinical area, e.g. Cardioresp, Stroke Rehab, Orthopaedics, Trauma, Medical, Gynae, Elderly Rehab, ... whatever the hospital covers. And with every new rotation you will have a different supervisor, set new objectives, etc..

    Hope, this helps.
    Good luck,
    Fyzzio

    Hey Fyzzio,

Thanks for the swift reply! Yeah your answer is helpful! In Holland it is not common to start at a hospital/trust but we covered that during our clinical practice. But at the practice that I started working, we had different areas: cardiorespiratory rehab, orthopaedics, elderly etc. So that will probably be it for me I reckon!

By the way, isnt it about midnight in NZ? Late worker huh!

Thanks again, and if I have another question I might send it your way, if you don't mind! :-)

    Cheers, Geert

    Re: New Zealand registration- CV

    Hi there,

Never posted on a forum before so apologies for jumping into thread of conversation.... I am almost finished my NZ application form but a couple of sections are still confusing me. Templates 4, 8 and 12 (Competency 9.4) are all the same "Demonstrate autonomous practice as an entry level physiotherapist encompassing cardiovascular/pulmonary, neurology and musculoskeletal bases of physiotherapy management". Im finding it hard to select specific areas of my uni booklets and/or CV without just referring to a whole document. Also post-grad experience im just putting in reflections from different rotations but its becoming a bit repetitive. Has anyone got any suggestions for these sections?

Happy to help anyone else who is struggling with other areas of the mammoth application pack!

I really cant wait to just put it in the post. Fly out in 8 weeks!!

    Hi Shellrell,

Good to hear you're almost done! I dont have an answer to your question, but just a small tip (in case you need it). I read that although the 4 templates are the same you have to 'copy' them and send them 4 times. Somebody made the mistake by thinking to add just one ("they are all the same anyway"), and his applcation was send back as 'not complete'.

Hope you get a direct answer to you q as well!

    Cheers, Geert

    Thanks for the reply Geert

It just seemed really repetitive doing that but ill maybe try and add in some additional post-grad evidence as well. Are you applying to NZ too?

    Re: New Zealand registration- CV

    Hey Shellrell,

Yes I am, it will be about a year before I go but already trying to sort things out. Cant seem to start with the templates, don't exactly know how to fill them out. I see the directions they give but I tend to put too much info on the forms. The rest kind off sorts itself out though.

Could you perhaps send me an example of how you filled it out? Just to have an idea?

If so, please email at [email protected]. If not, I understand.

    Grtz, Geert

    Hi,
    that's quite easy.

Contact the Physiotherapy Board in NZ or have a look on their website. It's all there:
The Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand > Registration - Overseas Qualified Physiotherapists

I have spent hours on this and I can't seem to do it. Is there anyone who can help?

Someone recommended https://www.careerassociates.co.nz to me, they said they helped them write their CV for this - thoughts?

    Re: New Zealand registration- CV

    Hi guys,

My apologies for jumping in on this old thread but wondered if someone could shed some light for me!

Ive got no post grad work experience in CV or Neurology, as i didnt do my rotations (from UK) and went straight into MSK private stuff for 2 years. Does anybody know if my clinical placements from uni are sufficient enough for the cv and neuro competencies or do I need work experience ?

    Any advice would be great

    Hi,
which Neuro competencies are you talking about?

I've got a colleague from England; registered around October 2016. She just needed to show one year post grad work - do specifics required.
    Cheers,

    Dear Fyzzio,
Is the one year post grad work needs to be in hospital rotation which included all neuro/cardio/ and muscle components? Since I have working in private practice for more than 10 years after graduated from a 3 year program in Hong Kong, i don't have much experience in neuro/cardio ( only a few patients of stroke /bell's palsy/ and percussion for chest physiology).

Still wondering whether I can fulfill all competencies in the 2016new competency sheet...........

Anyone can give me some advice?

    Cheers,
    Karen
